Why Sevilla?

Sevilla, the city of many cultures

The city of Sevilla is the capital of the Spanish region and province of Andalusia and has about 700,000 inhabitants, making Seville the fourth largest city in Spain. In the cultural, political, economic and artistic realms, Seville is the most important southern Spanish city. Seville has the largest historic centre of Europe. The historic city centre of Seville offers many attractions, such as the Real Alcázar de Sevilla, the Seville Cathedral with the Giralda Tower and the Torre del Oro at the river.

This beautiful city is located on the Guadalquivir river. Seville is seen by many people as the most beautiful city of Andalusia and Spain. Considering all the Arabic influences, the narrow winding streets, parks and the large historic centre (Barrio de Santa Cruz). Barrio de Triana, a district of Seville Spain is seen as the birthplace of flamenco, the typical Spanish dance and music. Seville is famous for its Mudéjar architecture, which is a mix of Islamic and Catholic architectural styles. After the Catholics defeated the Moors, who had ruled over Seville for more than 500 years, they kept many beautiful buildings intact like the Alcazar Palace.

Places

My favourite places in Sevilla

La Carboneria

Hidden in the narrow cobbled residential street of Calle Céspedes in the Jewish quarter of Seville. La Carboneria is a former coal storage place turned bar, welcoming both locals and tourists.

Address

C. Céspedes, 21, A, 41004 Sevilla

What I like about it

La Carbonera offers 30 min nightly flamenco shows at 20.30, 21.30, 22.30 respectively, by the same single group of the night. All you need to do is buy a drink at the bar.

Barrio de Triana

Triana is the district located on the other side of the Guadalquivir. Triana is not a district with spectacular sights. Rather, it is an authentic quarter interlaced with small streets that are a pleasure to wander through.

Address

Barrio de Triana, Seville, Spain

What I like about it

Although this was originally the most important district in Seville, you will find surprisingly few tourists here.

Santiponce (Seville), Spain

What I like about it

The city of Itálica is a must-see and will surprise the visitors for how well it is preserved and for it's magnitude.
